Hi! My name is Riley Gellatly, and I am a grade 8 home schooling student and a member of the KWCHEA (Kitchener/Waterloo Christian Homeschooling Association) and the KW Scholars. I am on a mission to teach 5,000 kids in the K/W area (grades 4-8) how to solve the Rubik’s Cube during the 2019/20 school year and help to EMPOWER a generation of kids.
From the moment I learned how to solve the Rubik’s Cube I immediately thought that every child should be taught this because of all the benefits it offers. The benefits include: improved my memory skills, problem solving skills, critical thinking skills, increased my confidence, expanded my social circles, and I feel empowered! And I think the greatest gift it has given me is 'Hope'. Situations that once seem impossible (like solving the cube) are now possible! I would like nothing more than to share this gift of being able to solve one of the world’s most challenging puzzles with the KW students so that they too can receive the benefits it has to offer, and take that knowledge and empowerment and carry it forward for the rest of their lives.
I have designed a program that will teach you and your child/students how to solve the Rubik’s Cube in four one-hour fun and interactive lessons, and the timing of those lessons can be scheduled as you see fit (i.e weekly, four consecutive days, etc). All materials will be provided for the lessons (cubes, instruction booklets, slide presentation, and video demonstrations). And every graduate of the program receives a certificate of successful completion of the Rubik's Cube.
Now, if you thought empowering kids in this unique way is a great idea, then you will be thrilled to know that I will be holding a summit event on June 3rd, 2020, at the Kitchener Auditorium where all participating schools, groups and organizations (5000+ people) will be coming together and solving the cube at the same time and breaking the Guinness World Record.
This endeavor is guaranteed to inspire, motivate, educate and make the world know that KW kids rock!
On behalf of my team and myself, we thank you for your time to read this, generosity if you are able to donate or sponsor, and we look forward to working with you if you are able to volunteer in one of the many ways by being part of our team.
Together we will be raising the bar of the emotional and intellectual levels of the next generation of kids and letting the world know that the people of Kitchener-Waterloo stand behind it's students.
